An Overview of LawMint LNAT Practice Tests
A comprehensive guide to the features and content available at Lawmint.uk
What’s New in the Latest Edition?
We’ve significantly expanded the resources available to you. The number of full-length practice tests has been increased from 30 to 100. This means that the number of comprehension passages has gone up from 360 to 1200, and the number of MCQs goes up from 1260 to 4200.
Another very important change is that previously we had provided explanations or justifications for the correct answers only. Now, explanations are provided for all answer options to help you understand why a specific option is correct and why the others are incorrect.
Getting Started: Access and Interface
To access the practice tests, go to the main website – lawmint.uk – and click on the ‘Practice Login’ link in the main menu. You can use your Gmail ID to create your account and to log in.
The first thing you will notice is that the interface is designed to be as simple as possible. The idea is that you should focus on the actual practice from day one – and not waste time on figuring out how the system works.
On the main page, you have information on the contents of the full series, and you can try a demo practice test. When you are ready to proceed with the purchase, click on the ‘Buy’ or ‘Access’ button, complete the payment through the payment gateway, and you will have immediate access to the full practice series. If you face any issues, use the contact page to reach us.
Taking a Practice Test
Once you are enrolled, you will see the course link under ‘My Enrolled Courses’ on the main page. The 100 full-length practice tests are grouped into batches of 10. Click on a practice test link to go to the start page, where you will also find information on your previous attempts. Click ‘Start’ to commence.
You can use the ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ buttons to move through the test. There is also a test navigation pane that provides an overview of your progress. You can close this pane to use the full-screen view and re-open it using the tab. During your attempt, answered questions will be in grey and unanswered questions in white. You can go back and change your answer for any question within Section A.
Multi-Device Accessibility
You can access all the features through a browser on mobile phones, tablets, or iPads – no app is required. This means that you can log in and practice whenever you have time, from almost any device.
However, we recommend that you practice as many tests as possible on a desktop or a laptop. This helps you get used to the environment in which you will take the actual LNAT, which will be on a desktop computer at a testing center.
Pacing Yourself: The Timer
What happens if you start a test but cannot complete it in one session, or when the timer reaches zero? The timer is provided just to help you pace yourself. Even when it reaches zero, the test will still be accessible. This means you can take the test one or two passages at a time. However, you can see the answers and explanations only when you submit and end the test.
The Essay Section (Section B)
When you reach question 42, you will see a warning message that if you proceed to the essay section, you cannot come back to the MCQ section again. This is similar to the actual LNAT. In the essay section, follow the instructions and write an essay of around 500 to 600 words (750 words is the upper limit). The automatic spelling checks normally built into the browser will be disabled here, just like in the actual LNAT, so you have to pay attention to your spelling.
After the Test: Review and Analysis
After completing the essay, click on ‘Finish Attempt’ to end the test. The attempt summary page will allow you to see if you have skipped any questions. You can go back and answer those questions, but this is not possible in the real LNAT. Scroll down on the attempt summary page and click on ‘Submit All and Finish’ to end the practice test.
You can then see your overall score, which questions you answered correctly, and which were incorrect. Scroll down to go through the detailed explanations for the correct answer and all other options.
The essay you have submitted is not evaluated by the system, but you will see links to sample or model essays on the specific topics. Even in the real LNAT, your essay is not evaluated when you take the test; it is sent as-is to the universities, who may evaluate it as per their own criteria.
When you click on ‘Finish Review’, you will be taken back to the test start page, where you will see a summary of your previous attempts. You can use this link to review the explanations again before your second attempt of that test.
Additional Course Features
The course also includes a section that briefly covers what the LNAT is all about, the structure of Section A, the various types of questions you will encounter, and an overview of the essay section.
Essay Speed Analyser
One very useful tool is the Essay Speed Analyser. You click ‘Start’ and write an essay on the given topic in one minute. The tool will assess your typing speed and give you an idea about how much time you may need to write the actual LNAT essay. This feature is quite useful because while you may be able to ideate an excellent essay in your mind, your typing speed also needs to be good enough to convert your thoughts into words within the available time, while maintaining acceptable levels of spelling and grammar accuracy.
Personal Statement Generator
The next section talks about the personal statement, and there is a very useful Personal Statement Generator. You answer a series of 12 questions, and you can then download the combined text file, which you can further modify offline and use in your application process.
