Ranked as one of the world’s top 100 universities, the University of Glasgow undergraduate Law programmes are very popular among UK and international students.

The University offers LLB (Hons) Common law and LLB (Hons) Scots law degree programs.

The Common Law degree is designed for students who plan to practice law in Common law jurisdictions in countries such as England and Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Canada and India.

The Scots Law degree is the required degree for those planning to enter the Scottish legal profession.

Applicants to all LLB degrees who do not already hold an undergraduate degree, are required to take the Law National Admissions test (LNAT) before an offer can be made.

Why does the University of Glasgow require LNAT 2024 scores?

The LNAT helps the University to assess the applicant’s verbal reasoning skills, command of written English and the aptitude to study law. The LNAT tests the following areas :

  • Verbal reasoning skills
  • Ability to understand and interpret information
  • Inductive and deductive reasoning abilities
  • Ability to analyse information and draw conclusions

The results of the LNAT are considered along with course grades and other relevant information to make the admission decisions.

Does the University of Glasgow have a minimum LNAT 2024 cutoff?

Yes, the University of Glasgow will set a minimum LNAT cutoff score after considering the applicants for the cycle. The University does not set a minimum LNAT score to be achieved in advance.

In a recent admission cycle, the cut-off LNAT score was 18. If the general LNAT scores in a year increase, the cut-off will also increase.

As per the Glasgow University authorities “… applicants who had excellent certified study and a LNAT score below the cut-off were not automatically excluded from offer consideration.

Does the University of Glasgow use the LNAT essays?

Normally, the University will use only the Section A Multiple Choice Test scores. The LNAT essays are not generally read.

However, the essays may be considered if there is a requirement:

  • If the applicant’s LNAT MCQ score is borderline, the essay may be read to further assess the applicant
  • If multiple applicants have similar LNAT MCQ scores and other academic achievements, the essay may be used as a differentiating factor

As per the University “… the LNAT score influences both decisions as to whether to make an offer and whether to admit a student who has not satisfied the offer conditions.” – which means that the LNAT score (including the essay scores) will be used for both selection or rejection of applicants.
