The LNAT (Law National Admissions Test) is exactly 135 minutes (2 hours and 15 minutes) long.
The exam is broken down into two distinct sections that are timed separately:
Section A: Multiple Choice Questions (95 Minutes)
- Duration: 95 minutes
- Format: 42 multiple choice questions based on 12 argumentative reading passages.
- Scoring: This section is computer-marked out of 42.
Section B: Essay Writing (40 Minutes)
- Duration: 40 minutes
- Format: You must write one essay, choosing from three provided prompts.
- Scoring: This section is not marked by the test center. The raw essay is sent directly to your chosen universities for their admissions tutors to review.
Managing Your Time
Time pressure is one of the most difficult aspects of the LNAT. In Section A, you have just over 2 minutes per question (including reading the lengthy passages).
To build stamina, it is highly recommended to practice under strict timed conditions. LawMint offers 200 Full-Length LNAT Practice Tests that perfectly simulate the 135-minute exam environment.
